11th Annual Backpacks of Love Golf Tournament
Imagine leaving school on Friday and not having another meal until returning to school on Monday. That’s the reality for a growing number of hungry children in the communities we serve. The backpacks often provide food not only for the kids in the program, but their siblings as well.
Each week, volunteers prepare backpacks filled with “ready-to-eat” foods and produce to ensure that area kids have food over the weekends. Working with teachers and guidance counselors at each school to identify those children in need, backpacks are delivered to the schools each Thursday and sent home with the children on Fridays. Each week, faculty and staff discreetly place the weekend food packs in the lockers of each child served by the program.
BPOL can only achieve these goals through the generous donations of our community, and hopes that you will support our efforts. 100% of the proceeds for the charity tournament go directly to purchasing food and supplies for the students’ backpacks.
